Pothole reporting (FOI/4937)

Message from Nottinghamshire County Council - 14 November 2024

Dear ***** *****

Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI/00004937

Thank you for your email of 24th October 2024 where you requested information about Pothole reporting. The response to your request is provided below.

In your request you asked:

For each of the past five years (2019-2024) how much did the council spend on fixing potholes

The costs requested are not recorded as an individual figure for repairing category 1 defects (a “pothole” will be recorded as a category 1 defect which requires a 24 hour repair), and forms part of the wider maintenance budget. Information for this can be found on the reports here - Decision Details: 2024-25 Highways Capital and Revenue Programmes.

And for each of the past five years (2019-2024) how many reports of potholes did the council receive

The number of pothole reports received is 63,068.

Please note:
  • This is the number of pothole reports received and not the number of potholes reported, as people can report numerous potholes/defects in the same report.
  • The number has been taken from financial years between April 2019 and April 2024.
