Further to your request received on 10th February 2026, I confirm that the Council has now considered your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

  1. Confirmation of whether the ironworks at this location were permanent or associated with works undertaken by or on behalf of the Council or a statutory undertaker

We have no record of temporary ironworks at this location and are not able to comment on statutory undertakers’ assets. There has been raised ironworks at this location due to resurfacing works, please see the below comments for Q5.
 
  1. Details of any highway works, reinstatement works, or utility works carried out at or near this location in the 12 months prior to 13 December 2025

Highway maintenance works are listed on the attached street history report. Any works that required a permit are also included in the attached Street Manager export (CSV Excel Spreadsheet), which shows all permitted works on this road during the relevant period. This export also includes any statutory undertaker works where permits were applied for.
 
  1. The inspection and maintenance records for this section of highway for the six months prior to 13 December 2025, including inspection dates and outcomes

  1. Any reports, complaints, or defect notifications received relating to ironworks or carriageway defects at or near this location in the 12 months prior to the incident

  1. Records of any temporary traffic management, warning signage, or protective measures required or deployed at this location during that period

Via was carrying out resurfacing works on behalf of NCC between 08/12/2025 and 19/12/2025. The attached photo shows signage in place advising of raised ironworks resulting from the carriageway surface being planned during resurfacing preparation.

A road closure / temporary traffic signals were implemented during various dates whilst works were carried out, the road was reopened during non-working hours with temporary signage as shown in the photo installed. Please refer to the attached CSV Excel Spreadsheet for further information.
