Further to your request received I confirm that the Council has now considered your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
  1. How many designated disabled parking bays are currently available within your council area

2. How many active Blue Badge holders are currently registered within your council area

Nottinghamshire County Council have 52,696 active badge holders currently registered with us as a Local Authority.
3. How many Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) have been issued for the misuse of disabled parking bays in each of the last 3 calendar years (2022, 2023, 2024)


A PCN is served under one contravention code with no separation between blue badge misuse, someone not having a blue badge or someone simply failing to display a valid blue badge correctly.
We can only supply the number of PCN’s served for being ‘Parked in a designated disabled person’s parking place without clearly displaying a valid blue badge and clock’..

4. What is the total revenue generated from fines related to Blue Badge misuse in each of the last 3 calendar years (2022, 2023, 2024) These offences might include but are not limited to using a fake blue badge, using an out-of-date one etc.
Unable to answer.  PCN’s are served for the same contravention code to vehicles who are parked in a blue badge without displaying a valid blue badge correctly, irrelevant of whether it is misuse, failing to display or out of date.  


5. What is the total revenue generated from fines related to drivers parking in a bay without a blue badge in each of the last 3 calendar years (2022, 2023, 2024)

The breakdown of information we record in relation to our Blue Badge applications are based on how many were issued or rejected. We are unable to provide further information on applications that were withdrawn. We are also unable to provide the specific reasons for why applicants were refused as this information may contain private and confidential data regarding individuals.

Of the 52,696 valid badges that we have on issue there are:
  1. 28,683 visible (physical) disabilities
  2. 848 non-visible (hidden) disabilities
The rest of the badges on issue are determined by automatic benefit eligibility.
