FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REFERENCE FOI/7202
Thank you for your request for information relating to FOI- Potholes.
We are now able to provide the following information:
- What is the longest time a pothole has been reported on the system before being addressed.
- What % of potholes that you repair are potholes that have been previously repaired.
- Based upon that number, what is the cost to the taxpayer for constantly repairing previously poor repairs.
- Given the above number, what % of previously repaired potholes do you ask the contractor to return to fix poor work.
- What is the current cost to the taxpayer for claims made against the council for damage to cars in the past 24 months.
£105,294.25 paid in compensation for the period 1 February 2024 to the 31 January 2026.

I confirm that the authority holds information falling within the description specified in your request. However, we estimate that the cost of complying with your request would exceed the appropriate limit. The appropriate limit has been specified in regulations and for local authorities it is set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 2 1/2 working days in determining whether the Department holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information. Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act the Department is not obliged to comply with your request and we will not be processing your request further.
