FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REFERENCE FOI/4841

Thank you for your request for information relating to adult care charges:

REQUEST

I am requesting the following information under the Freedom of Information Act. Please note that questions 1 to 5 exclude residential care (i.e. “care in a care home”), while questions 6 to 10 are specifically about residential care.

1. For the most recent date for which data is held, please state the total number of people in the council area that are required to pay for any aspect of their non-residential adult care (including but not limited to home care, day care, community alarms, telecare, and other community care services)
2. How many of the people referred to in response to question 1 are currently in arrears on their care charges by at least one scheduled payment (or by one month) This figure should *include* the cases referred to in response to question 3, as anyone in arrears by at least two payments (as per question 3) is by definition also in arrears by at least one payment (as per question 2).
3. How many of the people referred to in response to question 1 are currently in arrears on their care charges by at least two scheduled payments (or by two months)
4. How many of the people referred to in response to question 1 are currently subject to debt management procedures as a result of non-payment of non-residential care charges e.g. automated reminders, final reminders, letter before action, referral to civil enforcement agency, county court judgement 
5. How many of the people referred to in response to question 4 have had their current debts referred to a debt collection agency (including any agency owned by the council)
6. For the most recent date for which data is held, please state the total number of people in the council area that are required to pay for any aspect of their residential adult care (i.e. care in a care home)
7. How many of the people referred to in response to question 6 are currently in arrears on their care charges by at least one scheduled payment (or by one month) This figure should *include* the cases referred to in response to question 8, as anyone in arrears by at least two payments (as per question 8) is by definition also in arrears by at least one payment (as per question 7).

11. How many people did the council start court proceedings against in relation to non-payment of adult care charges (residential and/or non-residential) each year in 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 (year to date), excluding probate cases Please provide the figures broken down by year
