Freedom of Information request - Roadside A Frames (FOI/5746)
Message from Nottinghamshire County Council - 22 May 2025
Dear ***** *****
Freedom of Information Request – Ref: FOI/00005746
Thank you for your email of 24th April 2025 where you requested information about Roadside A Frames. The response to your request is provided below.
In your request you asked:
The number of A-frames erected
June 2024 to December 2024 – 56 locations, January 2025 to May 2025 – 91 locations so far
The cost of these A-frames
It is approx £90 per scheme
Will there be any ongoing maintenance to ensure that they remain in place and aren"t a danger
Yes, signs are monitored through regular checks by staff working in or passing through the area. In addition, maintenance visits are carried out where necessary to address any specific concerns.
Any risk assessments relating to the loss of pavement space and potential trip hazards
All staff involved are NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) trained operatives. Dynamic risk assessments are conducted on site to ensure that signage complies with the requirements set out in Safety at Street Works and Road Works – A Code of Practice.
Any relevant decision-making documents used to decide to erect these signs
This is part of our standard approach as part of our capital works programme and does not require a specific decision. Ongoing improvements to all aspects of communications with residents was a key aspect of the highways service review. These signs give the public advanced notice of potential disruption and also provide reassurance that where a road is in poor condition that a scheme is on the way to rectify it.
