Thank you for your email of 16 September 2024 where you requested information about council officers being given permission to work from outside the United Kingdom.
The information you requested is:
This is an information request relating to council officers being given permission to work from outside the United Kingdom. By the United Kingdom, I refer to Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland, not including the crown dependencies.
Please include the following information for the following financial years, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24 :
- The number of employees currently with permission to work outside of the United Kingdom – 1. No employees have long-term permission wo work from abroad, in all instances detailed in this response employees have been granted exceptional permission to work abroad for a maximum of 60 days in any tax year.
- The number of employees who were given permission to work outside of the United Kingdom in the 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24 financial years – We only hold data for September 2023 onwards. For 2023/24 8 employees.
- If possible, for each employee given permission, please provide their pay band, and the country which they were provided permission to work from

None of the employees in the above table have long-term permission wo work from abroad, in all instances detailed employees have been granted exceptional permission to work abroad for a maximum of 60 days in any tax year.
