Net Zero Strategy Positions (FOI/5871)

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REFERENCE FOI/5871

Thank you for your request for information relating to Net Zero Strategy Positions.  

Please provide the following information:


1. The number of staff positions within the council that could be described as connected to a Net Zero strategy. This might include positions with responsibilities related to:

  • Carbon reduction initiatives
  • Net Zero implementation
  • Sustainable energy programs
  • Climate policy development
  • Environmental sustainability coordination
  •  1.a If available, please provide job titles of these positions and the departments in which they are situated.
  • 2. The total annual budget allocated to these positions (including salaries and operational costs

I can confirm that the Council holds this information, however it is not recorded centrally in a way that would allow us to readily extract it and it would require a manual search of individual records to identify the detail you have requested. There are a huge number of staff and departments across the authority where positions would be "connected", or related to the criteria stated. There are also training and information strategies to ALL staff across the authority on the criteria that allows staff to implements strategies within there positions and this would be timely to decipher.

You may be aware that there is a statutory limit to the amount of time authorities are required to spend retrieving and collating information to respond to a request.  This is defined in the Fees and Appropriate Limit Regulations and currently stands at 2.5 days or 18 hours. 

We estimate that it will take one officer more than 18 hours to locate the information you have requested and would would required a search of each department to demonstrate their connection to the criteria.

Under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act we are not obliged to process requests that exceed this limit.

If you can narrow the scope of your request in some way then we may be able to provide some information, although I cannot guarantee that this will be the case. Any refined request we receive will be treated as a new request.
