Message from Nottinghamshire County Council - 15 May 2026
Dear *********,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REFERENCE FOI/7892
Thank you for your request for information relating to pot hole repairs.
We are now able to provide the following information:
We have considered your request; however, we are unable to provide the information you have requested. The scope of your request is too broad for us to process within the appropriate limits set out under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
In particular, the timeframe referenced “2017” is unclear and not sufficiently specific, and the request does not identify particular documents or data sets. To locate, retrieve, and extract the requested information would require a wide-ranging search across multiple teams and service areas. We estimate that complying with your request would exceed the statutory cost limit of 18 hours of staff time as defined under Section 12 of the Act. For this reason, your request is refused under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
However, we are able to provide the following information within scope:
We can confirm that potholes are not repaired in a diamond shape. Repairs are typically carried out either by filling the pothole or by applying a square or rectangular patch.
If you wish to refine your request to make it more specific, we would be happy to reconsider it.
We trust this now satisfies your request and that you find this information to be helpful, however if you are unhappy with the way in which your request has been handled, then please email us at [email protected] quoting the reference FOI/7892 and we will be happy to review your request
For future reference, Nottinghamshire County Council regularly publishes previous FOI requests and answers on its website, under Disclosure logs, that may provide details relating to your query.
