Thank you for your request for information regarding Nottinghamshire County Council"s counter fraud arrangements.

1. Does Nottinghamshire County Council have a dedicated Counter Fraud team
2. If yes:
* How many staff are within the team (headcount and/or FTE)
* What are the job titles of those staff
* If job titles cannot be disclosed, what are the grades/bands of those roles
3. If no dedicated team exists:
* How are counter fraud activities resourced
* Which teams/services have responsibility for fraud prevention, fraud investigation and fraud awareness activities
4. Are any counter fraud functions delivered by:
* External contractors/providers
* Shared services with other local authorities
* Regional or national counter fraud partnerships
5. Approximately how much officer resource (FTE) is dedicated to counter fraud activities across the Council
6. Is there a nominated Counter Fraud Lead If so, please provide the job title (not the individuals name).
7. Are there any professionally accredited counter fraud specialists within the service If so, how many

The Council considers that the information you have requested is exempt from disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, as it is reasonably accessible to you by other means.

For ease of reference, the published information indicates that:

  • Responsibility for maintaining the Counter Fraud Strategy, undertaking fraud risk assessments, compiling the Annual Fraud Report, participation in the National Fraud Initiative (NFI) and engagement with other counter-fraud groups rests with the Council"s Internal Audit service. The Annual Fraud Report identifies the lead officer for counter-fraud matters as the Group Manager, Internal Audit and Risk Management.
